Installation of a Media Control Unit at Planetarium Berlin
Project:
„Zeiss-Planetarium am Insulaner Berlin“ offers a broad variety in its program: live lectures, readings, radio plays, laser shows, live music and multi media presentations. Besides the usual star projection from the planetarium projector in the dome, now full-dome-projections are also possible with the new digital system.
Tamed Light Solutions GmbH & Co. KG developed a software that enables a userfriendly interconnection of the control devices for the manifold applications. With the intuitive touchscreen surface and a motor fader wing the user can prepare presentations in advance and save them in a cue list. Nevertheless during live shows the presenter can still survey the actual condition and adapt to the present situation. At the push of a button, the software sends control commands to configure all connected light, sound, video and laser devices.
A convertor was necessary to combine the new media control unit with the existing LED system. As a high resolution DMX demultiplexer the SMUDO.DAC controller provides 12 independant analog output channels. Especially designed for LED control with high contrast ratio, the output voltage of +10V is being divided into 4096 steps. This guarantees the best possible connection of the existing LED system.
